De meeste mensen vinden het ongemak na de ingreep erg meevallen. Maar natuurlijk is er wel wat gebeurd en is het belangrijk om de volgende leefregels in acht te nemen.

Na een bovenooglidcorrectie mag u gedurende een week geen zwaar werk doen en adviseert Bergman Clinics tillen en bukken zoveel mogelijk te voorkomen. De hechtingen worden na een week verwijderd door een verpleegkundige.

In de eerste weken kan de huid blauw worden tot op de wang en is de huid gezwollen. Nadat de blauwe kleur is verdwenen zal ook de zwelling langzaam afnemen.

De eerste 7-10 dagen is het gehele ooglid meestal blauw en is het litteken nog zichtbaar. Het ziet eruit als een dun iets gekleurd lijntje. In de loop van de eerste 3-4 maanden na de ingreep zal het litteken steeds dunner en minder zichtbaar worden. Het mag nadat het helemaal genezen is, gecamoufleerd worden. Het kan tot drie maanden duren totdat de oogopslag is zoals verwacht.

Een bril kunt u na de ingreep weer opdoen. Contactlenzen kunt u twee weken na de ingreep niet dragen. Leefregels voor de eerste weken worden door Bergman Clinics na de ingreep aan u gegeven zodat u weet wat u wel en niet mag doen. Voor een goed en blijvend resultaat is het natuurlijk altijd belangrijk de aanwijzingen van de arts op te volgen.

Risico's en complicaties

De kans op complicaties bij een bovenooglidcorrectie is uiterst klein. Wel kunnen zwellingen en bloeduitstortingen ontstaan. Sommige mensen hebben na de ingreep enkele weken last van tranende of juist droge ogen. Dit is meestal van tijdelijke aard.

Tijdens het eerste consult zal de arts u volledig informeren over alle mogelijke risico's en complicaties zodat u en een weloverwogen beslissing kan nemen.

Am I in pain after upper eyelid surgery?

The pain after an upper eyelid correction is generally not that bad. A slight soreness and/or tightness is what we often hear back from clients.

How long does recovery take after upper eyelid surgery?

After an upper eyelid surgery, you should not do any heavy work for a week, and we advise you to avoid lifting and bending as much as possible. The stitches are removed by a nurse after one week.

How long will I enjoy upper eyelid surgery?

The results of an upper eyelid correction are basically long-lasting. Due to aging and sagging tissue, it may sometimes be necessary to repeat the procedure after years.

How much does an upper eyelid surgery cost?

On the pricing page you will find information about the price of an upper eyelid correction. If you do not meet your health insurance company's strict criteria for medical indication, you can still have the surgery performed at our facility at your own expense.

Is treatment under the age of 18 possible?

Is the scar from eyelid surgery visible for a long time?

This varies greatly. For the first 7-10 days, the entire eyelid is usually blue and the scar is still clearly visible. It looks like a thin colored line. During the first 3-4 months after surgery, the scar will become progressively thinner and less visible.

Can I pay in installments?

Payment in installments is not possible at Bergman Clinics | Appearance.

Can I go home immediately after eyelid surgery?

When you feel well and the doctor or nurse considers it responsible, you may return home. This is usually as early as half an hour after the procedure. Your companion or driver can then take you home.

Can I smoke before eyelid surgery?

To maximize the healing of eyelid surgery, it is recommended that you stop smoking.

Do I have to go under anesthesia for upper eyelid surgery?

No, in fact, upper eyelid surgery is generally done under local anesthesia.

Where can I have eyelid surgery performed?

You can have eyelid surgery performed at one of Bergman Clinics' focus clinics. The procedure is performed by both a plastic surgeon and an ophthalmologist.

Is eyelid surgery covered by health insurance?

Only under strict and strict conditions of your health insurance can an upper eyelid correction be reimbursed in some cases. There must be severe visual field obstruction and the skin of your upper eyelid must cover more than 50% of your pupil. Unfortunately, this is rarely the case. You also need a referral from your primary care physician for possible reimbursement.

If you think you are eligible for reimbursement from your health insurance, please contact your doctor first. Your doctor can refer you to Bergman Clinics. If the treatment is not covered by your insurance, sometimes a reimbursement is possible through supplementary insurance.
