A melanoma is a malignant mole. Most melanomas are often erratic and asymmetrical in shape, and their color is also irregular. They can be brown and black, as well as red, blue, purple, white, gray or multiple colors. What can you do yourself?

Keep a close eye on suspicious birthmarks , especially if family members have or have had melanomas. If you do not trust the birthmarks, you can have them examined by your doctor or dermatologist. This way you will be able to catch it quickly if the mole develops malignancy.

Avoid overexposure to sunlight and take preventive measures, especially in children! Sunlight increases the risk of developing birthmarks and melanomas.

After treatment for melanoma, it is important to keep a close eye on your skin and lymph nodes.
