Dr. Mariëlla Withagen (1971) studied Medicine at Erasmus University Rotterdam and followed her gynecology specialization in the Rotterdam cluster (St. Franciscus Gasthuis, Erasmus Medical Center and Reinier de Graaf Gasthuis, Delft) from 1999 to 2005. The last year of her training she further studied patients with pelvic floor problems.
In 2005, she became a staff member of gynecology at St. Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen, where, in addition to patient care, she conducted research on various prolapse surgeries. In 2012, she received her doctorate on the topic "Prolapse surgery with mesh (mats)," research looking at the effectiveness and safety of prolapse surgery with mats.
Since January 2013, she has worked as a uro-gynecologist at Bergman Clinics | Woman at the Hilversum and Ede locations and at the University Medical Center Utrecht (UMC Utrecht).
