Obtsipation or difficult bowel movement occurs mostly in women. We talk about labored bowel movement, or constipation, when a person has bowel movements less than three times a week or when they only succeed by pressing (very) hard. Another important characteristic of labored bowel movement is that women often have hard stools. About 30% of women have one or more of these symptoms. Do not hesitate to seek help if you recognize yourself in these symptoms.
